Ajarn Kong, CFA
Ajarn Kong returned to Thailand from New York City in 2004 after working as an associate at Salomon/Citigroup Global Corporate and Investment Bank. Prior to that he worked at Bangkok Bank, taught at Kaplan and was an associate at Salomon Smith Barney in Singapore. Currently, he heads a team of 14 in marketing (sales, relationship management and product development) as well as investment risk management for institutional clients (provident and private funds worth over US$1 billion) at BBL Asset Management. He had passed the Series 7 and Series 63 certifications from the U.S. NASD.
Ajarn Kong obtained his MBA from MIT Sloan with a GPA of 5.0/5.0 and earned his BBA (finance and banking) with First Class Honors from Thammasat University. At Thammasat he founded Thailand’s first undergraduate business competition (www.tubc.org) and is a former director of the faculty’s alumni association. He teaches Financial Reporting and Analysis and Fixed Income for Financial Services Academy and The CFA Society of Thailand.
Ajarn Andrew, Ph.D., CFA
Andrew has lived in Thailand since 1992 and has been a university lecturer and equity analyst here since 1993. He is also an author, yoga student and wellness aficionado. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and an MBA from California State University. Andrew earned his PhD in finance at the University of Science and Technology of China in Anhui province, with a focus on answering questions raised by fund managers and analysts during his career about picking stocks and managing portfolios.
During his last two decades as an analyst, Andrew wrote thousands of pages of equity strategy and company research. In fact, in his last year working for investment banks, he published 850 pages of research. His final eight years in the business was spent as a head of research and strategist, managing research teams and writing regular strategy reports.
Prior to Maybank Kim Eng, Andrew was the head of research at CLSA Thailand, was voted No. 1 Analyst in Thailand in the Asiamoney Brokers Polls for 2008 and 2009. He was also voted No. 1 Analyst in Thailand in the 2009 Institutional Investor magazine All-Asia Research Team Report. Meanwhile, his research team at CLSA Thailand was voted No. 1 in both above surveys.
Andrew has been a lecturer in finance for 24 years at various universities in Thailand. Since 2013, he has been the president of the CFA Society Thailand and is a member of the Advisory Board at Thammasat University’s Business School.
Andrew also co-founded CoffeeWORKS Co. Ltd., Thailand’s leading specialty coffee roaster since 1995, and remains a shareholder and its finance director. Andrew has authored a book that explains Dr. W. Edwards Deming’s 14 points for Management, called Transform Your Business with Dr. Deming’s 14 Points and the book How to Start Building Your Wealth Investing in the Stock Market.
Ajarn Win, CFA
Win Phromphaet, CFA is Chief Investment Officer of CIMB Principal Asset Management. He is responsible for overseeing portfolio management of domestic fixed income and equities, as well as global investment strategies. Win joined the firm in September 2015 and has over 13 years of professional experience. Prior to joining CIMB Principal, he was Head of Investments and Deputy Spokesperson of the Social Security Office, Thailand’s largest institutional investor with total AUM of US$38 billion. He was responsible for managing investments of the mandatory Social Security Fund and Workmen’ Compensation Fund.
Win holds a BA in Economics (International Program) from Thammasat University in Bangkok and an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Netherlands. His MBA study was sponsored by the Royal Thai Government Scholarship. Win has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
He is a Director of the CFA Society of Thailand, and an independent director of the Thai Bond Market Association. During the weekends, Win teaches finance courses at Thammasat University, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), and Assumption University in Bangkok. He was awarded an Outstanding Civil Servant in 2006 and a Rising Star Economist in 2014.
Win is currently teaching finance courses at Thammasat University as well as the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). Win also teaches Corporate Finance & Portfolio Management and Equity Investments for Financial Services Academy. He was awarded an Outstanding Civil Servant of the Year 2006.
Ajarn Peter, PH.D., CFA
Thanachai Bunsaisup is presently a Senior Business Analytics Manager at Chubb Samaggi Insurance. His responsibilities include developing financial plan and business strategy, initiating strategic projects to improve the company performance and performing business analysis. Prior to joining Chubb, he worked with Allianz General Insurance for 2 years, Siam Cement Group for 4 years and also worked as a Senior Researcher at Sasin Management Consulting as well as had experience in managing Sasin Endowment Fund.
Thanachai received his Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honors with Gold Medal Award) in Industrial Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Master of Science in Finance (Highest GPA in class) from Thammasat University and Ph.D. in Finance from Sasin. He spent one year as a predoctoral fellow at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA. He was a recipient of the Popular Research Award 2013, voted by Thai Financial Institution from the Capital Market Research Institute (CMRI), the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
Thanachai is a CFA charterholder. He passed all three levels of CFA exams consecutively on his first attempt. He currently teaches level 1, level 2 and level 3 CFA courses for Financial Services Academy.
Ajarn Thanut, CFA
Thanut is a Fund Manager at CIMB-Principal Asset Management. he is currently managing equity funds with the asset size over 36 billion baht including mutual, provident and private funds.
He holds Bachelor of Degree of Business Administration (BBA) with the second honor class from Thammasat University. He is also a CFA Charterholder and holds the fund manager license. Besides being a fund manager, he is a guest lecturer for Thammasat University, Kasetsart University, Thailand Provident Fund Association and various organizations.
Ajarn Thitiwat, CFA
Thitiwat is the Managing Director of ‘Queen Natural Products Co., Ltd.’ ‘Touch One Co.,Ltd.’ and ‘Fast Going Co., Ltd.’ which are group companies that manufactures and exports cosmetics and raw materials. His responsibilities include effective strategic planning for long-term goals and objectives, improving and establishing sales target, dealing with key accounts, managing the companies’ marketing plans, improving financial plans and corporate finance, generating business development strategies and
new product development projects. This group of companies has more than 30 years of experience in the FMCG business and has successfully distributed a wide range of products to almost every department store within Thailand including CP All, Family Mart, Tesco, Big C, Makro, CJ Express, Boots, Watson and so forth.
The companies also managed to export to 10 countries such as Netherlands, Australia, Yemen, Saudi UAE and Thailand’s neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Japan and the Philippines.
Thitiwat graduated from Thammasat University with a Bachelor Degree in Economics where he successfully became the highest ranked student in Fundamental Financial Accounting (AC201, Semester 1/2551, Section 0301) class. Within just 2 years and a half, he passed all three levels of CFA exams consecutively on his first attempt. Therefore, with his knowledge and expertise in business for many years, he would certainly be capable of delivering and applying his experience and expertise into economic material into FSA’s classes
Ajarn Ratapon, CFA, FRM
Ratapon is a fixed-income investment expert, with over 7 years of experience in asset management and banking industry. He was a senior fund manager at TMBAM Eastspring, responsible for leading the management of the company’s flagship fixed-income funds with AUM totaling over 80 billion baht and winning the funds 5-star rating from Morningstar Thailand and Money & Banking’s Best General Fixed Income Fund Award. He has hands-on experience with fixed-income and derivatives valuation, quantitative modeling, and active portfolio management.
Prior to joining TMBAM Eastspring, he was an investment manager at Kasikornbank’s central treasury department. Ratapon has a Master of Science in Investment Management with Distinction from Cass Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering from Chulalongkorn University. He is a CFA charterholder and a certified FRM, passing all exams in a single attempt. He also holds a fund manager license from SEC Thailand.
